The Broom Guy

Around five years ago, I had the pleasure of meeting a gentleman named Everett Bailey. Everett was and is still known as the "Broom Guy." He is an exhibitor at the Fryeburg Fair Farm Museum. I was fortunate enough to be able to document his process of making his brooms by hand. Everett and I ventured out into the woods where he gathers his material. I noticed that Everett takes great care in the limbs he selects. These limbs are the broom handles. At his booth, Everett constructs his brooms right on the spot and shows the process right in front of the crowd! When visiting the Fryeburg Fair, I would recommend stopping by Everett Baileys Shaker Brooms Booth and see how an important household item is made.
