Capisic Pond Park is city-owned 18-acre nature preserve in the City of Portland, Maine that offers some great views of the largest pond in the city. Capisic Pond Park offers some fine bird photography. I usually park in the parking area on Capisic Street. Along the pathways, there can be a number of bird species found here including Double-Crested Cormorants (Nannopterum auritum), Mourning Doves (Zenaida macroura), Gray Catbirds (Dumetella carolinensis), and many more species! In the spring and fall, look for different species of sparrow. During the winter, look for fruit eating birds. It is a small park to photograph birds but I am amazed at the variety of species found here. If anyone is looking for a new place to birdwatch or photograph birds, Capisic Pond Park is worth exploring!
